Network
Marketing Ads
Network Marketing ads come in two flavors:
those you pay for, and those that pay you.
The ones you pay for are pretty easy to find.
The promos pop up in your email box day after day ad
infinitum.
Place
your ad budget
right here,
in the palm of
my hand,
and
I'll turn YOU
into a network
marketing
MILLIONAIRE.
Honestly.
The sad part is that they get enough people to
believe them that they actually run businesses on that kind of
promo.
Most of these ads are for AdWords. Do you see
the ads at the top of this page? Those are AdWords. They
come from Google. "AdWords" and "AdSense" are the same
thing. If you are paying for the ad, you are using
"AdWords". If you place the ads on your website, like I do, you
are using "AdSense". There are other companies that do ads like
this, but Google is by far the biggest.
Using AdWords is a real skill. I've tried it
a couple of times, and frankly I fell flat on my face with it. The
hard part is not really writing the ad, although that is
challenging. The hard part is placing the ads on just the right
pages.
Not all internet pages are created equal. For
instance, if you have a site on cosmetics, placing a network marketing
ad on a page for cement mixers won't do you a lot of good. Now
"cosmetics" is a very popular word, and therefore it costs a lot to put
an ad on a page for "cosmetics". It is a lot cheaper to put that
same ad on a page for "cosmetics for women" or "mascara". Finding
the hidden keyword gems where you can place your ads, having it both
effective and inexpensive, is a real talent.
This is a very popular way of generating traffic to
your site. The more people who see your ads, the more likely it is
that your traffic will grow.
If you do opt for using AdWords, try it out
yourself. Google provides lots of help on their info pages.
Lucky for me, I can use Door Number Two:
AdSense. People pay me to place ads on my site. All of the
AdSense that you see on this page are paid for by advertisers.
That is one of the ways that I make money.
I
have that luxury because I don't need to use paid advertising to
generate traffic, like AdWord users do. My traffic is generated by
creating strong keyword-targeted pages that rank well in the search
engines. Then, when people search for "network marketing", or
other keywords that I use, they see this website in the list of results
and click to come here.
Here's where to sign up for AdSense. You'll
find loads of information on creating your ad blocks, placing them in
your website, tracking etc.
Also, here's an excellent
intro to AdSense and how to use it on your
site.
Can you do both AdWords and AdSense?
Absolutely. Find the combination that works best for your style of
operating.
There are other types of paid network marketing ads
as well, such as:
- Display ads on other sites
- Text ads on other sites
- Ads in newsletters
- Ads in hard copy magazines on your topic
And there are a lot of ways to promote your site
without using paid ads, such as
- Write articles for other websites
- Write articles for other newsletters
- Create a reciprocal link program
- Listings in directories, especially niche
directories
- Social networking
- Bulleting boards and forums
You will no doubt discover other ways as you build
your site.
