Hi.  That's the real me (aka "Auntie M").

Do join me on the network marketing journey.  It is a great, marvelous and -- yes -- lucrative adventure.

But it is not always easy.

For the first several years that I had a website, I was a miserable failure.  I hesitate to even call it an "online business".  I think I made $50 in five years.  That's $50 total, for the whole five years.  And, yes, I had a bunch of expenses, so it was pretty much a huge failure.

If you read my formal resume, it talks about the Peace Corps, being a research librarian and working in venture capital for many years.  All of that is true.  But there's a big hole in that resume.

At 60 years of age, a master's degree and 30 years of experience behind me, my company closed it doors and the only "real" job I could land was as a receptionist in a law firm.  Oh, lordy, I was so bored I was ready to turn into a screaming maniac.  Not only that, but this particular group of attorneys were not particularly nice people.

One morning at work I got hit with one too many insults -- whamBANG!  KAPLOOEY!  I threw down my pen (and I think I hurled the phone across the room), marched out and never looked back.

I had no job and no prospects.

Fortunately, I had started a little network marketing online business a year prior to that, and I knew I could make it work.  I HAD to make it work.

That was the beginning of my network marketing adventure.  I am so, so glad that those attorneys were such dorks because I have such a great life now.  My original website does well, and now I've even got time enough to help others get started on their network marketing.

This is not the first time I tried network marketing.  For many years I had tried to start up internet businesses.  I spent more money on "gurus" and Get Rick Quick schemes than I care to think about.  Obviously, none of it worked.  All I really got was poorer.

Then one day I downloaded a book about writing for the internet, in the hopes I could make my existing website better.  It was published by Site Build It ("SBI").

Something clicked.

This was the way to go in network marketing.  I just knew it. So I started up my little online business. I spent weeks and weeks reading the manual, prowling the forums (which, by the way, are excellent), and learning the tools of the trade.

It took me about three months to get my website up.  And another three months to make a nickel.  It was another three months before I got my first $100 check from AdSense.  (Fortunately, my site does a WHOLE lot better now!)

Network marketing is a big learning curve.  And I only worked on weekends when I could squeeze in a hour or two.  Then, miraculously, SBI asked me to be a Moderator in the Forums.  I jumped at the chance. 

Then, about the time that I left the law firm, Ken Evoy, the President of SBI (the web hosting company), invited me to be one of ten coaches at a once in a lifetime event:  the SBI Bootcamp.  That, in no uncertain terms, was a life changing event.  I know I worked very hard to coach others to build their websites.  And I know too that I ended up learning more from that experience than I could have learned by any other means.  Here were the top, top folks from SBI, all teaching on their corners of expertise.  (I was the "monetization" coach.)

I came back from that bootcamp, re-built my online business and watched it grow 10-20% per month for next year and a half.  It only grows about 5-8% a month now, but I'm still pretty happy with it.

That is the journey that I am inviting you to join me on.

After that first network marketing website I created several others.  I just couldn't believe how much faster the second site started making money!  But by then, I had figured out how to do it.

WEB SITE -- INITIAL STEPS IN YOUR NETWORK MARKETING VENTURE
~ Identify a profitable topic for your network marketing website, one that will generate traffic and money
~ Identify 50-100 strong keywords that you can use in your network marketing website.  These are the keywords that will bring you consistent traffic and customers
~ Determine what kind of monetization techniques would best suit your network marketing site.  You will see many of the options on this website.  We will review them, and narrow them down to the best choices for you.
~ Create a site blueprint with your primary site keyword, tier 2 keywords and tier 3 keywords.
~ Determine and register your site name.
~ Create a basic look and feel for your network marketing site from 200 templates in SBI.  (If you would like a custom look and feel, that is available for an additional $250)
~ Load your template into SBI, whether it is an SBI template or your own customized template.
   

CREATE AND OPTIMIZE PAGES FOR NETWORK MARKETING

~ SBI has a propriety program for creating web pages, one that requires NO KNOWLEDGE OF HTML.  We will either learn that process, or upload your pages from your own html editor, like FrontPage or DreamWeaver.  The choice is yours entirely.
~ "Optimizing" pages refers to using keywords effectively to attract search engines.  This is a skill that most of us can learn, and I'll show you how.
~ Writing for the web is a real talent.  We'll learn formatting tricks and ad placement tricks and learn how to create pages that just look sharp.
~ We will learn how to create and incorporate all kinds of specialized pages for your network marketing, like Contact Page and blog page, and how to put a snazzy footer on every page.
~ Linking from page to page is one the very important skills that we cover.  All pages must be linked, or your visitors will get lost, and the search engines will never find the pages.
~ Linking to other sites is also important, but you don't want to lose your visitors by sending them off site.  We'll learn how to fix that.
~ Writing strong page titles.
~ Writing descriptions that get the click for network marketing.
~ How to create a url

MONETIZATION IN A NETWORK MARKETING SITE

~ Here's where we fine tune how your site will best make money for you.  We look at all the various streams of income, identify the ones that will work for you, and add them to your site.  This may be listed last, but this is a process that began way up at the beginning, and continues all the way through.

Most network marketing sites, too, have some "special request".  As best I can, I will help you build the site that you most want to have.  We'll look for components that fit with your topic and your time.

You will end up with a network marketing business that has at least 20 pages, with a contact form, an ezine, a look and feel you like, and targeted pages with real monetization options -- a real online business!

WHAT IS THE "COACHING" THING LIKE?

Basically, for each of our sessions I connect you to a screen sharing service so you can watch my computer monitor.  I demo a task or two, and have you try them out as well.  Being able to visually see what is happening while we are talking makes it so much easier!

We actually work on YOUR network marketing site during our sessions.  At the end of each session, you have a task to complete.  Sometimes it is to locate keywords; sometimes it is to write pages.  It can be anything in the whole process.  But it is something that we have talked about, and something that you are comfortable with.

In between sessions you are welcome to call me or email me with any questions.

The goal is for you to feel comfortable building your website.

HOW LONG DOES ALL OF THIS TAKE?

I have had people go through building an online business in two weeks.  Most take longer.  I work on your schedule.  If you have one day a week when we can meet, that's what we do.  If you can meet every day, we'll do that for a while too.  My job is to make your job easier, so I do what I can to make that happen. 

HOW DO I KNOW YOU ARE ANY GOOD?

Excellent question.  My best recommendation is the work I do.  You are looking at one of the sites.  You found this site through the promotion that I do, and I will teach you how to do that kind of promotion too.

I am also a Moderator at SBI, and have been for a couple of years now.  I'm not going anywhere.  When you join SBI, you will see my posts throughout the Forums.  Although my presence as a Moderator is not an endorsement by SBI, I can pretty well assure you that if they had trouble with me, I wouldn't be a Moderator any more.

And the Bootcamp.  I was so incredibly honored to be part of that group.  I still keep in touch with folks from that adventure.

Also, when you get into SBI, you will see a loooong page with hundreds of successful SBI sites.  I can tell you that not only is my site there, but two of my clients are represented there as well.  AND at least eight other clients qualified to be on that list.

CAN YOU GIVE ME REFERRALS FROM YOUR CLIENTS?

As you learn SBI you will learn that each site is very unique, and we go to a lot of trouble to find and determine keywords that work.  Because of that, I am not at liberty to point you to clients that I have worked with.  Their sites are proprietary, as will be yours.  No one else reading this page will ever know that yours is one of the sites that I helped build.

Julien, Your hunch is right. You will be lucky to rank well sometime in your lifetime with a Supply of hundreds of thousands or millions FOR THAT KEYWORD.

But you don't need that keyword to have a successful web site.

How are your T2 and T3 keywords? Is the Supply low enough there so you can rank well? Can you find 50-100 strong "low hanging fruit" to get your site started?

If so, you probably do have a strong concept. It doesn't hurt to have a difficult primary keyword. At some point down the road (actually several years, not several lifetimes), you will start ranking. And when you do, the traffic generation will be substantial.
