Success in Network Marketing

Success in Network Marketing eludes a lot of people. 

Mostly the non-success people listen to the hype.  "I made a million dollars last month -- You can too!!"

Logic tell us that it just ain't so, but the Get Rich Quick Gurus are working overtime to push that nonsense in front of our noses. Your best defense is to ignore it.

What is Your Definition of Success?

Forget about making a million dollars.  Realistically, what is "success" to you?

My friend Sally is a young, stay at home mother in Iowa.  She only has an hour or two a day to devote to her business.  So when she makes $500 a month, she is very happy.

My friend Marcia is a very different person.  Her goal is to buy a penthouse in Manhattan.  She is willing to devote 80-100 hours per week on her business, but she wants it to be a huge success.

Where on this spectrum do you fit?

Believing that you will earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from working 3-4 hours a week is genuinely unrealistic.  But it is realistic to look for returns commensurate with the effort that you put into the project.  (The possibility that you will become a millionaire by working 100 hours a week is still pretty remote.  Sorry.)

How do you find success in network marketing? What are some of the elements that say "You've Succeeded"?

You've Built Relationships

If you can say that you have built relationships with your affiliates and with potential customers, chances are that you have approached success. In network marketing, financial wealth sometimes evades us for a while and that is something that is important to realize. It may take some time before the wealth is substantial enough to be able to use that as a basis for measuring success, but the fact that you have built a community of people all around one central product or service speaks volumes about your business skills.

You Have a Product You Can Be Proud Of

If you have been in network marketing long, you have probably dealt with products or seen other people deal with products that they were not necessarily very proud of. This is a tough one to deal with, because some people believe that you shouldn't have to like a product to be able to sell it. While this is partially true, the best success in network marketing comes from having built a program off of a product that you truly believe in, one that you can say really works and that you yourself do make use of.

You're Linked to a Company You Can Be Proud Of

Another sign that you have reached success in network marketing is that you are proud of the company that you work with. This is no small accomplishment.

If you explored the world of network marketing and MLM programs, you may have been introduced to companies that had bogus products and bogus people running the company. Whether the payouts were awful, the products were awful, or the overall service itself was just atrocious, there are many MLM marketing companies out there that no one is able to say they are proud to be part of.

It constantly astounds me when people opt to represent companies with shoddy products, or shoddy sales techniques.  But they do it every single day.  And they expect to make money from it.

When you've found the companies that you can be proud of, you are well on your way to success.

You're Not Starved For Customers

One of the most significant signs that you have reached success in network marketing is that customers come to you.

The same goes with affiliates. If you have a great team of affiliates that are making money for both you and themselves and you know that you can count on this team, financial wealth is the only next logical step if you haven't yet obtained it.

No matter what type of MLM or Network Marketing program you have got going, it is important to realize that financial wealth may be slow to come but success is so much more than that. It is about stability, progress, and dependability. If you can say that you feel successful and that you are conducting an honest and profitable business, that is more success than most people could ever hope to ask for.

AND, if you can say that much, financial reward will soon follow.

So.  How Much Time Does Success in Network Marketing Really Take?

There are obviously no hard and fast rules.  But I would recommend that you take a look at this WAHM Guide.  Don't be put off  by the fact that it is about Work At Home Moms.  It has great case studies on exactly how much each one made, and what they had to do to make that money.

Where is Your Success?

Your first job is to find the niche that spells "s-u-c-c-e-s-s" to you, no matter what it is.  If it is tires for monster trucks, fine.  If it is a hydroponic garden, fine.  WHAT IT IS doesn't matter.  If you enjoy it and can honestly say it's a great product/service, THAT's your first step to Success in Network marketing.
